New Ideas

So this is the newest of my several attempts at creating an interesting blog. I've wanted to create a substantive blog of SOMETHING for a very long time and a few people are familiar with my former attempts and know that they were BORING. I think I'm really onto something now though. I've found the one thing that I can do better than 98% of other people, so I am going to write about it.

My first hike is going to be an approximately 70 mile thru hike from Janesville to Milwaukee.

The first 20 miles of the trip will be along the side of some of Wisconsin's wonderfully scenic farmland on relatively untraveled county roads. It could also make an amazing drive, if I didn't want to go slow enough to enjoy every moment.

The amazing thing about this trip is that 31 miles of it goes through Kettle Moraine State Park (southern unit) on the Ice Age Trail. The Ice Age Trail, rated at moderate to difficult difficulty, is designed to show a landscape affected by the retreating glaciers of our last ice age. A few highlights are Bald Bluff, Paradise Springs Creek, Lake La Grange, and many others.

After walking a short connecting path along a county road, I will come to the Glacial Drumlin State Trail. Mainly a bike path this will take me the rest of the way to the outskirts of Milwaukee, without ever having to walk next to a highway (which I have done before, not so pleasant).

Right now, I am in the planning stages of my trip right now, collecting trail maps, etc. Here is a basic outline of the proposed path:

When I am packed and ready to go I'll let you know what gear I'm bringing and what dates my actual trip are.
